Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) launched a drive against illegal vehicles through mobile courts in Chattogram on Monday.
The drive was conducted on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in Anowara-Patia crossing area.
A total of 18 vehicles were fined Tk 73,000 in the drive. Besides, seven vehicles were dumped.
A BRTA press release confirmed the matter to the media on Monday.
Mishkatul Tamanna, Executive Magistrate of BRTA Mobile Court-12 led this drive on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in Anowara-Patia crossing area.
Deputy Director of BRTA Chattogram Division Syed Ainul Huda Chaudhury, Motor Vehicle Inspector of BRTA Ctg Metro Circle-1 Fahad Shikder, Motor Vehicle Inspector Md Abdul Matin and other officials and staff members were also present in the drive. Traffic department of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) cooperated this drive.
BRTA sources said the drive was launched against illegal vehicles without route permits, fitness, driving vehicles without license and other problems. The mobile court fined 18 vehicles Tk 73,000. Moreover, one bus, one ambulance and five CNG-run auto-rickshaws were dumped as fitness, tax token and route permit of the vehicles were not updated for a long time.
