The British Council is delivering 5,400 Foundation English Tests (FETs), designed to assess entry-level English skills, to Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation project across eight locations in Bangladesh until the end of March 2024.

The British Council has designed the test with a special focus on improving people's employment prospects. The signing of FET deal between the British Council and FET delivery partners for these locations was held recently at the British Council's Fuller Road office premises. The FET offers a simpler and fairer assessment. It assesses lower English levels, making it more appropriate for candidates who only require entry-level English. It's quicker to complete and more affordable. Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority set up Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centres at eight locations nationwide to develop tech-skilled manpower. This initiative has been launched to enable the organisation or entity like Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centres to evaluate their candidates' and employees' lower-level English skills in everyday and workplace environments.

“FET will help companies, institutions, and employment agencies boost their effectiveness in recruiting a workforce who can communicate in English at the right level. Thanks to our delivery partners, who are consistently ensuring the smooth delivery of 5,400 FETs across Bangladesh,” Zunayed Ahmed, Director Operations at the British Council, said.

Representatives from the British Council, including Sarwat Reza, Director of Business Development, and Tasneen Tabassum Chowdhury, Business Pursuit Manager, attended the event. Runa Parvez, Assistant Programmer from the ICT Division, was also present. Designated eight delivery partners are dCrowd IT Ltd & JV, Logical Triangle-NRB Jobs- Zayanzara Ltd, Shooting Star Limited, Webpers Limited, ADDIE Soft Ltd, Ezze Technology Limited, CodersTrust Bangladesh and Digicon Technologies PLC.
