Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the bridge built at a cost of Tk 4 crore 70 lakh over the diversion canal in west Bakalia Rasulbagh residential area.
While inaugurating the bridge, the mayor said that the residents of West Bakalia Rasulbagh had a long-standing demand for the construction of a bridge over the diversion canal. This bridge fulfilled the aspirations of the locals. He expressed the opinion that it will play an important role in establishing a bridge of communication between North, South and East Bakalia and the people of West Bakalia. The Mayor urged the concerned institutions to remove the temporary embankments constructed during the digging of canals through the mega project to alleviate waterlogging at the earliest.
He said that not only mega projects should be implemented but also people should be aware. Along with the ongoing 34 canals taken up under the mega project, the remaining 21 canals have been taken up for rehabilitation.
He said this while inaugurating the newly constructed bridge over the diversion canal in West Bakalia Rasulbagh residential area on Thursday morning.

Shahidul Alam, Zahar Lal Hazari, Reserved Councilor Shaheen Akhter Rozi, CCC Chief Engineer Rafiqul Islam, Additional Chief Engineer Kamrul Islam, Superintending Engineers Abu Saleh, Munirul Huda, Executive Engineers Farhadul Alam, Abu Siddique, Mirza Fazlul Quader, local Awami League leader ASM Ayakub, Yunus Company, Md Mucha, Akbar Ali Akash, Abdul Hakim Member, Nashrullah Karim Chowdhury, Harunur Islam Mamun, Shawkat Imran Sumon, Shahedul Islam, Rahul Das, Milton, contractor Shahed Saki and local people were present.
CCC Mayor said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very sincere for the development of Chattogram. For the development of Chattogram metropolis, about 21 thousand crore taka have been allocated to the service institutions including CCC for the implementation of the mega project for far-reaching infrastructure and visual development. The aspirations of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Chattogram people's should be fulfilled through proper utilization of this huge amount of allocation. He urged the citizens to attend a public meeting at the polo ground on December 4 to express gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
