Brazil keen to boost trade with Bangladesh

Brazil is looking forward to increasing exports of various agricultural products including cotton to Bangladesh.

Brazil's Charge d'Affaires Sabima Nadja Popoff said this while paying a courtesy call to Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi at his secretariat office in the capital on Wednesday. She was leading a delegation team from Brazil.  

Brazil’s Charge d’Affaires Sabim Nadza Popoff said, “Brazil sincerely believes that Bangladesh is their friend. That is why Brazil is interested in expanding and developing trade and commerce in various agricultural products including textiles and cotton of Bangladesh.” 

“The best quality cotton is produced in Brazil. Brazil exports high quality cotton to different countries of the world. Bangladesh is in one of the positions in the list of these exporting countries. Brazil wants to export more agricultural products including cotton to Bangladesh in future,” she added.

Minister for Textiles and Jute Golam Dastagir Gazi told The Charge the Affairs, “Bangladesh is also sincerely believes that Brazil is a friendly country of Bangladesh. The textile sector of Bangladesh and Brazil will move forward together through mutual cooperation. Obstacles to trade and commerce between the two countries will be overcome through negotiations.”

Apart from the friendly relations between the two friendly countries, various issues of mutual interest including the economic progress of Bangladesh were discussed during the meeting. 

Ministry of Textiles and Jute Md. Abdur Rauf among others were present at the meeting.
