One person has been killed in a scuffle between the two sides over the election of the managing committee of Beshainkhan Shaheed Smriti Secondary School in Kirtipasha Union of Jhalokati Sadar Upazila.

The incident took place late night onTuesday. According to police and locals, the deceased Md. Shah Alam Hawladar was elected as a guardian member in the election of the managing committee of the school last Monday.

He is the son of late Khaleq Hawladar of Singhapur village in the same union. On Tuesday night, the day after winning the election, Shah Alam and his son Rakib got into a fight with an election opponent in the same area near their village home. When the injured father and son were brought to the District Sadar Hospital, the on-duty doctor declared Shah Alam Hawladar dead.

Rakib, the son of the deceased, alleged that Mamun, Niru and Hiru had been putting human pressure on them for a few days. After losing the election, he rehearsed near home the next evening. At night, on the orders of Mamun, Nilu and Hiru, Saisal, Russell and Rana from the same area attacked Rakib while he was on his way home. Baba Shah Alam rushed to the rescue of his son from a nearby shop and the assailants beat Shah Alam. Shah Alam fell to the ground and died.

Dr. SK Baral, a doctor on duty at the emergency department of Jhalokati Sadar Hospital, said Shah Alam was brought to the hospital dead. No signs of injuries were seen on the body.
