Awami League Joint General Secretary and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said the violence in different parts of the country, including Brahmanbaria, was carried out under the banner of an organization but was linked to BNP and Jamaat.  They have caused these incidents together. The violence in Brahmanbaria has tarnished Islam. He added they are dreaming of turning Bangladesh into Afghanistan.

The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of Mujib Corner and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Research Center for Islam and Interreligious Dialogue (BRCIID) at International Islamic University Chittagong in the port city on Thursday evening.

Deputy Minister of Education Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel was the keynote speaker at the function presided over by Prof  Dr Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi, Chairman, Board of Trustees, International Islamic University.

Special guests were MP Khadijatul Anwar Soni, Vice Chancellor Prof AnwarulAzimArif, Board of Trustees Member Rizia Reza Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of Islamic Arabic University AhsanUllah, Prof DrSalehZahur, ShahriarJahan.

Dr Hassan Mahmud said that the way anarchy has been carried out in Brahmanbaria was brutal.people's houses, property, private cars have been burnt in the area.

Asked about the relationship between the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the violence done in several places, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said, "Today, the misdeeds that are being committed are hurting our culture.  In Brahmanbaria, the academy of Sur SamratAlauddin has been set on fire, the land office has been set on fire, the fire service station has been attacked.”

He said that a journalist has been asked to recite Kalemain Narayanganjto see if he is a Hindu or a Muslim.  These were done by the invading forces in 1971. Those who are doing these things today are the next generation of evil forces who helped the invading forces to commit genocide in Bangladesh in 1971.

Dr. Hassan said that an evil power is dreaming of making Bangladesh turned into Afghanistan.  Those who were involved in the management of Chittagong International Islamic University in the past were also helpful to this evil force.  In this university too, this evil force made its home like a rock.  This university has been rescued from the hands of that evil force.  This evil power must be stopped.

"After talking to the vice-chancellor of the university, I came to know that the money in the university's account had suddenly disappeared a few days ago," he said.  I think it needs to be explored where the resources of the university went.  At the same time, it is necessary to investigate in the interest of the people, including the Ministry of Education, whether the money that has come from all over the world for this university has been used for personal or party work.  I hope the new board of trustees will look into this as well.

The Information Minister said that Bangabandhu's birth anniversary has not been celebrated in this university in the past, national days have not been celebrated properly.  On the occasion of Bangabandhu's birth centenary, Mujib Corner and Research Center is being inaugurated on the campus premises, for which he thanked the Board of Trustees and the University authorities.

Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel said that no political party has established this university, nor is it the property of any political party.  The university has come this far by the efforts of those who wanted to take the nation to the international arena in Islamic education, religious education, technology education and science education in higher education.  Some of the members of the political party whose registration has been revoked by the Hon'ble Court have misrepresented and occupied it for use as their ancestral property.  It can never be desirable.

He said the law governing universities has specific provisions that those involved in creating militancy, fundamentalism and anarchy in the country cannot be involved in any way under the auspices of any private university.  Due to this legal provision, the responsibility falls on the executive branch of the state.

That legal responsibility has been fulfilled here by investigation.  The Deputy Minister of Education said, "I have searched the documents and seen that many fanatical and generous people from Chittagong and abroad have brought this university to its present stage by donating to this university all the time."  It is a matter of pride for us that their successors have taken charge of this university today.
