Brahmanbaria journos demand withdrawal of Akhaura UNO

Local journalists of Brahmanbaria have demanded withdrawal of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Akhaura Tahmina Akhter Reina for her alleged involvement in filing of false case against two journalists. The local journalists raised the demand from a demonstration and human chain formed in front of Brahmanbaria Press Club on Wednesday.

A local teacher filed a case against two journalists with Akhaura Police Station on charge of publishing fake news over copy supplying in JSC exam. The teacher filed the case 25 days after publication of the news. It was alleged that UNO Tahmina Akhter Reina influenced the teacher for filing the case.

President of Brahmanbaria Press Club Rashidul Islam presided over the programme while General Secretary of Press Club Deepok Chowdhury Bappi, Joint-General Secretary of Press Club Baharul Islam Molla, Former president Mohammad Arzu, former General Secretary Sadekur Rahman, General Secretary of Brahmanbaria Television Journalist Association Riaz Uddin Jami, Convener of Zilla Sangskritik Jot Abdun Nur, Senior Journalist Jabed Rahim Bijon, President of Akhaura Press Club Md Rafiqul Islam, Fazle Rabbi and Hannan Khadem spoke at the programme, among others.

The speakers demanded withdrawal of the false case immediately. They strongly demanded withdrawal of UNO Tahmina Akhter Reina as he is involved in conspiracy against the journalists.
