BPL second phase kicks off today

Much talked about the second phase of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is going to start on Friday. The first phase completed on March 7. It takes a total of 53-day to start the second phase because of countrywide lockdown for COVID-19 pandemic. 

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) confirmed resumption of the BPL will run from today, according to its previous decision despite the extension of the ongoing lockdown for another week.

The highest governing body of the football took decision that the match will be held at only one venue—that is Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS). 

BFF's Senior Vice-President Abdus Salam Murshedy said, “The Professional Football League Committee (PFLC) has taken the decision that two or three matches will be played every day. PFLC hope that they can complete three or four rounds before the Eid-Ul-Fitr.  Besides, the AFC Cup fixture of Abahani has also forced them to matches more frequently.”

According to a draft schedule Reigning Champions Bashundhara Kings will take on Uttar Baridhara Club in the first match of the second leg of BPL at 4pm at the BNS. 

Six-time champions Dhaka Abahani, the Sky Blue Brigade will face lower rank in the points table Bangladesh Police in the same venue at 7pm. And the third encounter between Brothers Union and Sheikh Russel KC meet with each other at 9 p.m. at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
