Boro paddy and rice procurement campaign has been inaugurated in Narail on Tuesday.
Narail Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashfakul Haque Chowdhury inaugurated the procurement campaign as the chief guest on Sadar Upazila Food Godown premises at 5:00pm.
Food Department, Narail arranged the procurement programme. District Food Controller Laila Afroz presided over the function while Sadar Upazila Food Controller Palash Chandra Mukherjee, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Food Godown Abhishek Biswas, Additional Deputy Director (Horticulture) of Narail DAE Md Zahidul Islam, Ansar VDP District Circle Adjutant Mumtaz Khanom, Narail Press Club President Advocate Alomgir Siddiqi, Narail Chamber of Commerce President Mohammad Hasanuzzaman, Mill Owners Association President Abdul Mannan were present at programme. Officials of the food department along with farmers were also present there.
District food department sources said, a total of 4 thousand 965 metric tonnes of paddy and 4 thousand 653 metric tonnes of rice will be collected from three upazilas of the district.
Besides, 306 metric tonnes of Atap rice will be procured in Sadar upazila. Boro paddy will be procure at taka 32 per kg, rice at taka 45 and Atap rice at taka 45 per kg. The procurement campaign will continue till August 31.
