Boro paddy cultivation starts in Sirajganj

In order to produce more food after Coronavirus pandemic, Boro cultivation has started in Sirajganj in a big way. On the other hand, as there is no shortage of chemical fertilizers and diesel, the farmers have spent a busy time in Boro cultivation.

According to the sources of Tarash Agriculture Directorate, the target of planting various varieties of Boro rice including Bri-90, Kataribhog, Bri-49, Bri-51, local variety Abdul Guti has been determined in Tarash, which is known as a food grain storehouse, in about 22,500 hectares. Currently, at the mid of winter, farmers have started planting Boro paddy along with irrigated cropland in 8 unions and one municipal area of the Upazila.

Hundreds of farmers have prepared seedling seeds to plant Boro paddy in the mustard fields. As soon as you can plant Boro paddy after harvesting mustard.

Farmer Shah Alam of Kazipur village of Baruhas union said that record amount of food grain paddy is produced in Tarash Upazila. And for that purpose, farmers have started Boro cultivation in the entire Upazila.

According to the sources of Tarash Agriculture Directorate, farmers will need 5 thousand tons of urea, 16 metric tons of TSP, 20 metric tons of DAP, 64 metric tons of MOP fertilizer to cultivate rice on about 22 thousand 500 hectares of land during Boro season. All of which has been ensured to be sold among the farmers through 12 fertilizer dealers of the Upazila.

In this regard, thousands of farmers of the Upazila will be able to cultivate boro comfortably as there is sufficient government supply of urea, TSP, DAP, MOP fertilizer and diesel, said Nasim Uddin, a farmer of Baldipara village of Desigram Union.

In this context, Tarash Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdullah Al Mamun said that Tarash Upazila is at the top of the district in rice production. And in order to produce more food after Corona, the farmers of Tarash Upazila have been assured the supply of chemical fertilizers and diesel. As there is no shortage of saranik fertilizer and diesel in this Upazila, farmers have happily concentrated on Boro cultivation.
