Bogura municipality polls today

All the arrangements have been completed for today’s municipality election in Bogura. Vote will be conducted through EVM from 8am to 4pm on Sunday. 

Polling officials transferred the election equipment including EVMs, from the town's Municipal High School to the polling stations at around 11am on Saturday.  Senior District Election Officer and Returning Officer Mahbub Alam Shah, Assistant Returning Officer SM Zakir Hossain, and other election officials including Sakhawat Hossain distributed the election materials. 

According to the District Election Office, there are 275,870 voters in Bogura municipality. Among them, 134,906 are male and 140, 964 are female voters. 2,603 polling officers will work in 830 booths of 113 centers in Bogura municipality. 

Abu Obaidul Hasan Bobby with the symbol of boat from Awami League, Rezaul Karim Badsha with the symbol of sheaf of paddy from BNP, independent candidate Abdul Mannan Akand with the symbol of jug and Maolana Abdul Matin with the symbol of hand-fan from Islami Andolan are vying for the post of mayor. Some 50 candidates are contesting for the post of reserved ward councilor (female) and 130 candidates are contesting for the post of general ward councilor.

Senior District Election Officer and Returning Officer Mahbub Alam Shah said all the necessary steps have been taken to hold a free, fair and neutral election in Bogura. 16 platoons of BGB, 21 mobile court teams led by 21 executive magistrates, required number of RAB, police and Ansar and VDP personnel including five striking forces will be on duty during the election.
