Police recovered the floating body of an auto-bike driver from a pond at Telkupi village under Santhia Upazila of Pabna on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Robiul Islam, 45, son of Rayhan, resident of Monohorpur village under Sadar Thana of Pabna.
It was known that locals saw a floating body at the pond of Shahin Kazi in Telkupi village and informed police. Son of the deceased identified him as his father.
Hasibul Haque, son of the deceased, said his father went out of their house with the auto-bike on Sunday evening. He did not return since then. They filed a General Diary (GD) with Pabna Sadar Police Station on Monday. He heard about the recovery of a body on Tuesday and identified the body as his father’s body at Ataikul Thana.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Pabna Sadar Circle Mahfuj Ahammed visited the spot.
Officer-in-Charge of Ataikula Thana AKM Habibul Islam said Robiul was an auto-bike driver. It is being assumed that miscreants might have killed him and snatched his auto-bike. A case was filed with the police station. The body was sent to morgue. It is being tried to find the clue of the killing.
