Police have recovered the body of a man identified as Naren Dhar (38) from the premises of the Indian Assistant High Commission located in the Khulshi area of Chattogram city.
The body was recovered around 9.30 am on Tuesday and later sent to the morgue of Chattogram Medical College (CMCH) Hospital for an autopsy.
According to preliminary information from police, Naren Dhar was reportedly associated with the Indian Assistant High Commission in an official capacity. However, authorities have not yet confirmed his exact designation or professional role within the mission.
Officials from Khulshi Police Station said they rushed to the scene after receiving information from the High Commission premises. Following necessary legal formalities, the body was recovered and transferred for post-mortem examination. Since the incident occurred inside a foreign diplomatic mission, investigators are handling the matter with special caution and in accordance with diplomatic protocols.
Police sources said it is still unclear whether there were any visible injury marks or signs of suspicious circumstances at the scene. Investigators have refrained from making detailed comments at this stage, citing the ongoing inquiry. Authorities said the exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy report is received.
Local residents and eyewitnesses said they noticed unusual police activity in front of the mission early in the morning. Shortly afterward, an ambulance was seen carrying the body out of the premises, drawing attention and speculation among people in the area.
The Indian Assistant High Commission has not yet issued any official statement regarding the incident. However, diplomatic sources indicated that the matter is being treated with importance and that internal procedures are also being followed.
A police official from Khulshi Police Station said an unnatural death case is currently under process and further action will depend on the findings of the autopsy report.
Police have continued their investigation to determine the actual circumstances surrounding the death.
