The dead body of a fish-eating tiger was lying beside Sreepur of Gazipur on Saturday.

Local people informed, they found the dead body of the fish-eating tiger beside Rajabari-Sreepur road near Lohagach village of Sreepur Municipality on Saturday morning. By watching the body colour and the stripes on the body, local people thought the animal as a Leopard but the Inspector of Wildlife Crime Prevention Unit of the Department of Forestry Asim Mallik identified the animal as the fish-eating tiger.

Local people further informed, there was the mark of injury on the face of the animal which indicates the animal might die by being hit with any running vehicle on the road.

A large number of people thronged at the spot to have a look at the dead animal.   Wildlife Crime Prevention Unit of the Department of Forestry Asim Mallik further informed the dead animal seems to be a three-year aged fish-eating tiger.

These fish eaters are usually nocturnal in nature and live on rat, snake, frog and fish from the water body. He opined the fish-earing tiger might die by being hit with any speedy vehicle.

He said, the vehicles at night should move slowly and signboards should be hanged beside the road to warn the drivers to drive-slow in the roads through the forest areas.
