Chittagong Metropolitan Police (South) Deputy Commissioner Vijay Basak said, ‘Body Worn Camera’ has been introduced in Chittagong for the first time in the country at the initiative of CMP Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir Sir to directly monitor and supervise the police personnel in charge as part of modern and smart policing.

Under the pilot project, this activity is being started in 4 police stations of CMP 4 division. The 4 police stations started now are Double Mooring, Kotwali, Panchlaish and Patenga, he added. Each police station has been given 7 cameras. These activities will be implemented in 16 police stations in phases. If you have a 'Body worn camera', the information and pictures recorded on the camera will work even if the members of the police force are left out while on duty.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (South) Deputy Commissioner Vijay Basak inaugurated the programme at Kotwali Police Station on Monday afternoon.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Mohammad Aminul Islam, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kotwali Zone) Mohammad Mujahidul Islam and Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station Mohammad Nezam Uddin were present on the occasion.

After the police officers in 4 police stations of the city, ‘Body Own Camera’ has been introduced in the CMP Traffic Department this time. CMP Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Shyamal Kumar Nath inaugurated the program on Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Basak said, “Body worn camera has been introduced to ensure 100 percent transparency and accountability. This initiative seeks to reconcile whether a responsible police officer is treating the public properly with professionalism and cooperation from the public.

We have no other purpose in this camera. Police officers have been trained to operate body or camera. If you can make a good video of the incident, you will be rewarded.

If you fail, you will be shown.”

When the cameras will be on during the operation and check post, it will be understood whether the people are getting cooperation from the police. Police will be held accountable through Audio on cameras if anyone is deprived of legal assistance. As a result, the distance between the people and the police will be bridged. These cameras can capture audio, video and pictures even in the dark of night. When Forge launches, the movements of police officers can be monitored from the admin panel via live streaming. If any officer is in danger while performing his duties, he will be assisted immediately. Daily records will be saved.

Kotwali Police Station OC Mohammad Nezam Uddin said, “These cameras will work as mobile CCTV. This camera will record everything even if it escapes our eyes. This initiative will take us one step further on the path of digitization. The introduction of ‘Body Own Camera’ will increase the dynamism of their work.”
