BNPP leaflet distribution futile

We strongly condemn the BNP’s evil efforts to obstruct the electoral process, intimidate voters and carry out terrorist activities to foil the January-7 general election.

In multi-party democratic system, all political parties and the people have the right to take part or not in voting, but no one has the right to bar the people from casting their ballots. When a merry mood is being created among the masses centring the upcoming national election across the country, the BNP leaders are involved in distributing leaflets to discourage voters to go to polling stations to cast their votes.

It seems that BNP has lost its political identity. So, the party (BNP) along with the anti-liberation and evil forces is following in the footsteps of ‘underground party, which carried out secret killings in Bangladesh during the post-independence period, and creating obstacles to election process.

When people are in joyous mood, BNP-Jamaat nexus wants to kill the country’s democracy by obstructing the  election process and endangering the country’s sovereignty and independence. The party on Sunday enforced another nationwide road-rail-waterways blockade. It was the 12th such blockade programme called by the BNP-Jamaat since October 31.

None has the right to bar the people

from casting their

ballots

However, BNP’s hartal, blockade, leaflets distribution, arson terrorism and act of sabotage could not have any impact on election festivity and enthusiasm. Therefore, tough actions should be taken against those who want to impede the democratic process, people’s voting rights and create chaos in the country.

In fact, BNP’s call for boycotting election is getting feeble. BNP has called non-cooperation programme after being frustrated. The next general election will be held in free, fair and transparent manners and the government is providing all-out assistance to the EC.

As the leaders of the party (BNP) have understood that the next poll will be held in free and fair and in festive mood, they have changed their terrorism activities and carried out arson attacks.

In a democratic country like Bangladesh no one has the right to resist voting. Some people may not come to polling centres to cast their votes. But if they resist others, they must face the music.
