Information and Broadcasting Minister and Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud said that the BNP workers do not have confidence in Mirza Fakhrul,he is severely criticized by the BNP workers.  It is ridiculous for people to jump into the movement as soon as the whistle of the secretary general of the party is in this condition.  When the BNP goes to a program, it fights by itself and that program becomes a pond.

He said the Chittagong radio station has played a very important role in the history of our freedom struggle.  The transmitter used by the then General Secretary of Chittagong Awami League MA Hannan to read the declaration of independence on behalf of Bangabandhu at Kalurghatis now kept in the old circuit house in Chittagong.  The transmitter will be shifted to the Kalurghat Wireless Transmission Center where it was earlier.

He said a small museum would be set up there.  Swadhinata Park has been set up there, it is imperative to stay with Swadhinata Park from where it was announced with this transmitter.  This decision has already been taken by Bangladesh Betar.  Arrangements will be made to relocate there following due process.

Information and broadcasting minister said this while exchanging views with officials and employees after inspecting the Chittagong radio station on Saturday afternoon.  Betar Residential Engineer Nitya Prakash Biswas, Regional Director SM Mostafa Sarwar, Deputy Message Controller Md. Zakir Hossain were present on the occasion.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, Chittagong Radio Station is a historical radio station.  Because MA Hannan, the then general secretary of Chittagong Awami League, read the declaration of independence on behalf of Bangabandhu on March 26 from this radio station.  Later on March 27, the Awami League leaders found Major Ziaur Rahman to read the declaration of independence with an army officer and read the declaration of independence on behalf of Bangabandhu.

Information Minister said that the proclamation of independence of Bangabandhu was read out on March 25 from Chittagong Betar Kendra by the then Advocate General of Chittagong Awami League MA Hannan on behalf of Bangabandhu.  It was known to the whole nation and the world and the people and the world knew that Bangabandhu declared the independence of Bangladesh, that Bangladesh is an independent state through Chittagong radio station.  It is a historic radio station.

The Minister said radio is a very ancient medium.  Radio can reach out to marginalized people.  Television cannot be heard in the sea.  But the radio can be heard sitting in the middle of the Bay of Bengal, on the top of the hill in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

People depend on the radio to hear the signals of disaster.  Listening to the radio has decreased in the middle, but now the habit of listening to the radio is back.  Now we can listen to radio programs from any part of the world through apps on mobile phones.

Dr. Hassan Mahmud said that in his speech it seems that if he or their acting chairman blows the whistle from the other side of the seven seas and thirteen rivers, then people will take to the streets.  In fact, this dream of Mirza Fakhrul Sahib is the manifestation of the dream that he wakes up, and always speaks nonsense.  The event of the team that fights on its own becomes a pond.  All these statements of the secretary general of that party are ridiculous.
