‘BNP to be ruined if it carries out subversive activities in the name of movement’

Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak on Wednesday said BNP will be ruined as the party is carrying out subversive activities in the name of movement across the country,

“BNP will be destroyed if its leaders and activists does not boycott Tarique Rahman and stop destructive activities," he told a discussion of Awami Swechchhasebak League marking 104th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children day in city's Institution of Diploma Engineers of Bangladesh (IDEB).

Nanak, also Awami League (AL) Presidium Member, said AL will not demolish BNP, rather the party (BNP) itself will be destroyed because of their destructive activities.

Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, MP, said although BNP and their followers opposed the Liberation War in 1971, the party leaders and activists are now talking about country's democracy and independence.

BNP and its cohorts killed Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members on the fateful night of August 15 in 1975, he said.

He also said AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly for the development of the country and its people. She wants to implement the dream of Bangabandhu.

The architect of independence and the greatest Bengali of all time Banga­bandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to turn the country into 'Sonar Bangla'.

Acting Presi­dent of Swech­chhasebak League Md. Abdur Razzaque presided over the meeting and its General Secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu conducted it while its vice-presidents Subrata Purokeysta and Abdul Alim Bapari, Joint general secretaries Mobasher Chowdhury and Khairul Hassan Juel, organizing secretaries Mahbub ul Hassan Mahbub and Shah Jalal Mukul, Dhaka city north Swechchhasebak League acting president Shah Alam Menthu and Dhaka city south Sweshshhasebak League general secretary Tariq Sayeed, among others, were present.
