Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Wednesday said BNP is suffering from political inaptness as the party is indulged in ill politics over the illness of its chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, reports BSS.

He came up with the remark while speaking at a press conference at the new building of Awami League President’s Dhanmondi Political Office in the capital  before a meeting of the party’s Publicity and Publication Sub-committee.

Hasan, also Awami League publicity and publication secretary, said people do politics for the welfare of the country and its people but BNP is doing politics over the health condition of Khaleda.

He said the government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is carrying out a drive against corruption and drugs for the welfare of the country and its people, and it will continue. “No wrongdoers will be spared,” he warned.

Replying to a question about the ICC’s ban on ace cricketer Shakib Al Hasan, the information minister said it is a matter of sports and “I personally think this punishment is a little bit excessive”.

The meeting of AL Publicity and Publication Sub-committee was held on preparation of the AL national council to be held on December 20-21 next.

Chaired by Political Adviser to the Prime Minister HT Imam, the meeting was attended by Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar, AL deputy publicity secretary Aminul Islam Amin, and sub-committee members Kasem Humayun and Abdus Shukkur Emon.

HT Imam said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thinks of the welfare of the country’s people and that is why the country is moving forward under her leadership.
