Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said, "The BNP has proved that Ziaur Rahman carried out the assassination of Bangabandhu in '75 by holding a rally of terrorists and students at Dhaka University with the slogan ‘Pochattor er Hatiar’ (weapons of 75) and the BNP has admitted it."
He was speaking at a rally organised by the Awami Youth Women's League in front of the National Press Club on Thursday morning. Leaders including Awami League Organising Secretary Ahmed Hossain spoke under the chairmanship of Youth Women's League President Nazma Akhter and General Secretary Apu Ukil.
The minister said, "In fact, when the Padma Bridge was built with the country's own money, BNP leaders Begum Khaleda Zia, the fugitive acting chairman and Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir lost their heads. Social media has also been filled with their criticism, bowing their heads in shame. That is why they are trying to create a different situation in the whole of Bangladesh so that the joy that is prevailing among the people on the occasion of the inauguration of the Padma Bridge can be ruined.”
At this time, the girls of the Young Women's League are enough to resist the BNP-Jamaat, he said.
Dr Hasan said, "We have to resist the evil forces of BNP-Jamaat who are trying to create fire-terrorism-anarchy like in 2013-14-15 in the whole of Bangladesh with the anti-independence activists.
The leaders and workers of Bangladesh Awami League, the party of the masses of this country, are and will be on the streets.”
Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak said at the rally, "Those who have created anarchy in Bangladesh, those who took Bangladesh to the brink of destruction, the BNP-Jamaat have risen again. They want corpses, they do corpse politics, they want to destabilize the country, they have to stop.”
Shortly afterwards, the minister presided over the monthly coordination meeting of the ministry, implementation meeting of the Prime Minister's promise and review of the progress of the annual development activities in the meeting room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the Secretariat. Additional Secretary Faruk Ahmed, Khadija Begum and other officials took part in the meeting under the chairmanship of Ministry Secretary Mohammad Maqbool Hossain.
