"People are relieved by the reduction in commodity prices in the market, but the BNP is uneasy," said Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud.

The minister said, "Prime Minister Bangabandhu Kanya Sheikh Hasina has given one crore family cards through TCB for selling goods at low prices. One crore family card means five crore people. Market prices have also come down. The reduction in commodity prices has brought relief to the people. When the relief came back to the people, the uneasiness of the BNP increased. That is why they called a strike with the 'left-brothers'.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at an extended meeting of the Rangunia Upazila Awami League in Chattogram city on Tuesday afternoon.

"The BNP is trying to spread confusion in the minds of the people on the one hand and incite unscrupulous traders on the other hand. At the beginning of the construction of Padma Bridge, the BNP had spread rumors of kidnapping. This government said it could not build Padma Bridge. Today the Padma Bridge is over, waiting for the inauguration. Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina drove over the bridge”, he said.

“After the BNP spread confusion about the vaccine, some of them vaccinated in public secretly and some in public out of shame. So the BNP, which cannot be found in the country without a television screen, should not be confused with their words”, the minister added.

At this time, the new leadership is coming out through conferences across the country to strengthen the organization led by the Prime Minister. Hassan said, "We strongly hope that this will ensure a landslide victory in the next elections like in 2008."

Mentioning that Awami League is standing on a solid foundation in Rangunia, Dr Hasan Mahmud said that people should be reminded about the situation in the country 13 years ago. Allowances and beneficiaries have increased a lot, one and a half to two thousand people are getting allowances in each union, there have been many roads - these should be highlighted.

Chattogram North District Awami League Vice President and Upazila Chairman Swajan Kumar Talukder, Abul Kashem Chishti, Rangunia Municipality Awami League President Master Aslam Khan addressed the meeting under the chairmanship of Upazila Awami League Vice President Abdul Monaf Sikder and General Secretary Engineer Shamsul Alam Talukder.
