Chattogram Mahanagar Swechhasebak Dal President HM Rashed Khan said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman founded the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on September 1 in 1978 due to the historical needs of the country and the nation.
He also said BNP does politics for people and the country. The people of the country were suffered due to the corruption and misrule of the fascist Awami League government. There were no voting rights of the people and no freedom of speech. They restricted everything, including the basic rights of the people. The political parties could not practice their democratic rights. People could not live in peace in the last 17 years. Now, we can celebrate the founding anniversary of the party spontaneously.
He came up with the assertion while he was speaking at the celebration of the 46th anniversary of the party at Rangunia in Chattogram.
HM Rashed Khan said we under the leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman have fought peacefully to restore the rights of the people. People were with us as BNP is the most popular party to the people of Bangladesh. The fascist killer Hasina was bound to leave the power and flee the country due to the student-people mass movement. Now, our responsibility is to establish a democratic government with the direct vote of the people through a neutral government.
Chattogram Mahanagar Swechhasebak Dal leaders, including HM Rashed Khan, Belayet Hossain Bulu, Asaduzzaman Didar, Shahidullah Didar, Khairul Alam Dipu, Advocate Saiful Islam, Harun Al Rashid, Mamunur Rahman, Harunir Rashid and others, were present there.
