As the BNP-nominated candidate for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, BNP Standing Committee member and former State Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has submitted his nomination papers for the Cox’s Bazar-1 (Chakaria–Pekua) constituency.

He submitted his nomination papers to the office of the Chakaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Shaheen Delwar on Sunday afternoon.

On information of the submission of Salahuddin Ahmed’s nomination paper, a large number of leaders and activists from BNP and its affiliated and associate organizations gathered at the Chakaria Upazila Parishad premises from 3:00 pm.

The leaders and activists present said that Salahuddin Ahmed would be elected as MP from the Chakaria–Pekua constituency with the highest number of votes. They stated that during the BNP-led alliance government, while serving as State Minister for Communications, he carried out extensive development across the country, the impact of which is still visible today. Therefore, people from all walks of life—young and old, men and women—are hopeful that by voting for the “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol, he will further accelerate development of the area, establish fundamental rights of the people, and uplift neglected regions through development.

Chakaria Upazila Election Officer Mahfuzul Islam said that the total number of voters in the Cox’s Bazar-1 (Chakaria–Pekua) parliamentary constituency is 540,490. Among them, Chakaria Upazila has 391,740 voters, while Pekua Upazila has 148,750 voters. Of the total voters, 290,291 are male and 250,198 are female.
