Jubo Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna has said that BNP is the only political party that started an anti-India movement first in Bangladesh.
He made the remark while talking to reporters at Shantinagar in the capital on Wednesday.
Monayem Munna said, "We are the first to start an anti-India movement in Bangladesh. After the attack on the Bangladesh Deputy Embassy in Agartala, India, none other than Jubo Dal, Sechchhasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal staged a long march programme. We went to the Zero Point of the Akhaura border. None of those, including NCP, who are now talking big words have even shown the courage to protest."
Mentioning that the BNP leadership had a movement for a fair share of the Teesta Agreement, he said, "A few days ago, BNP had held a series of programs to achieve the fair rights of Teesta. BNP held it in the presence of more than 1 million ordinary people demanding the implementation of the Teesta Agreement. Our acting chairman Tarique Rahman gave the speech as the chief guest at the rally."
Criticizing a recent statement by Jatiya Nagorik Party Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwari, the Jubo Dal President said, "We are not acting like a coward about the elections. I have told Mr. Patwari to keep his words in check and say that BNP is a big political party."
He said, "Who is acting like coward? We are seeking the mandate of the people, we are seeking the right to vote. We are not talking about being cowardly here. You are the people, I am the people. We are seeking our right to vote. Are we saying anything wrong by saying this? They are being cowardly." One of their advisors said that it has nothing to do with the NCP.
