The utter barbarity of the BNP-Jamaat-Shibir cadres during the recent violence over the students’ quota protests beggars belief. They (BNP-Jamaat-Shibir) uleashed a reign of terror, cashing in on the student movement, killing people and destroying public and private properties. Some acts of their barbarity have been revealed by media. The armed miscreants killed a Jubo League leader and a police constable and then hanged up their bodies for public view.
Their barbarity surpasses even the brutality of the Pakistani occupation forces during the country’s Liberation War in 1971. Jubo League leader Jewel Mollah was brutally killed on July 19 at Uttara while a police constable was killed at Jatrabari in the capital. They (BNP-Jamaat-Shibir) in their monstrous outburst carried out bloody mayhem, killing many people, including students, police, pedestrians, and even children in the capital city of Dhaka and many other parts of the country. The BNP-Jamaat miscreants made the country a hell through barbaric killing and massive destruction. Their atrocities across the city has spurred widespread condemnation and protests.
We just cannot imagine how such barbaric killings take place in a civilised society. At least 30 major establishments, including the main building of Bangladesh Television, two metro rail stations, Khaja Tower, hub of the city’s internet data cables, Setu Bhaban along with police vehicles were torched and damaged by the miscreants during the quota movement.

They (BNP-Jamaat-Shibir) also carried out arson attacks on the government offices, police stations and toll plazas of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway. We do not understand why key point installations (KPIs), major structures and buses are being torched and state properties are destroyed by BNP-Jamaat armed terrors.
The BNP-Jamaat cadres carried out massive destruction to destabilise the country. They want to destroy all the achievements made by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led government .
We believe the general students never carried out these violent activities. It is the BNP and Jamaat who unleashed a reign of terror riding on their quota movement. Over two hundred people were killed and many others injured during the violence over the students’ quota movement. We pray for the salvation of departed souls and convey sympathy to the members of the bereaved families. We also pray for the early recovery of the injured.
A feeling of insecurity has gripped the people. People cannot walk alone on the city roads, lanes and by-lanes after dusk out of fear. We the people living in different cities, including the capital, may fall prey to BNP-Jamaat-Shibir armed cadres anytime.
Equipped with firearms and sharp weapons, BNP jamaat men are still roaming in their respective areas amid raids conducted by different law enforcement agencies. Many places of the country had turned into safe haven for militant outfits like JMB and Bangla Bhai during the BNP regime between 2001 and 2006 when we saw such barbaric acts across the country.
We all should remain alert to the brutality of the BNP and its political ally Jamaat-e-Islami. We also have to got united to resist the evil forces to protect our country.
