Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League and Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton has said Bangladesh government has a reserve of fuel (diesel) for 35 days to 40 days.
Bangladesh has a reserve for nine months' of dollar reserve in the banks where a country is regarded as a stable country which owns a reserve for three month’s dollar.
He said, in recent days, the price of fuel has increased in the world market due to the Russia-Ukraine war for which Bangladesh is not responsible. Supply of fuel and gas has decreased and the price of dollars has increased.
As a result, the reserve of dollars in the banks has been decreased to $39 bn from $ 48 bn which is nothing to worry about. He further said it is usual that the reserve of dollars in the banks will fluctuate and there is nothing to be worried by the people.
But, the BNP-Jamaat alliance was making the people panicky and misleading and the 'so called' civil society is with them. They do not want any good for the people of the country.
AHM Khairuzzaman was speaking as the chief guest at the first session of Triennial Conference of Charghat upazila of Awami League held at Charghat Pilot High School play ground on Thursday.
AL Presidium Member AHM Khairuzzaman Liton further said, BNP is saying they will not participate in elections without the non-political, neutral government. BNP has said such words in the past as well. But, elections did not stop for that. He added, in all developed countries fair and neutral elections are held through the Election Commission while the ruling party government is in power and in Bangladesh the elections will be held the same way.
Speaking as the chief guest, Khairuzzaman Liton said, after the Liberation of the country, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started to build the country when anti-liberation forces created the plot of killing Bangabandhu. The chief villain of muder of Bangabandhu was Ziaur Rahman and Khandaker Mostaque was kept in the forefront.
He further mentioned that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made visible development in the country. She has turned into a prestigious, successful state-woman in the world. But, Rajshahi district BNP Convener Abu Sayed Chand has insulted and made indecent remarks about the Prime Minister. He said, people of Bagha-Charghat will give the right answer to the insult of Chand during the next election if he participates in the elections.
He further mentioned, those who made indecent remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, Father of the Nation, have no right to live in this country. He mentioned, Ziaur Rahman had snatched away power from President Sayem and arranged a farcical 'yes/no' election that is why the word Democracy does not fit to the mouth of BNP leaders.
Organising Secretary of AL SM Kamal delivered his speech at the meeting as special guest. He said, Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia have killed Democracy. Our leader Sheikh Hasina has given democracy the institutional form. Sheikh Hasina believes that no one can remain in power without the trust and love of people and Sheikh Hasina is working to achieve the trust and love of the people.
Presided over by Anowar Hossain, President of Charghat upazila AL, the meeting was addressed, among others, by President of Bagha Upazila AL and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam MP, AL Central leader Dr Rokeya Sultana while Gen Secy of Rajshahi dist AL Abdul Wadud Dara spoke as the chief guest. Gen Secy of Charghat upazila of AL conducted the meeting. The meeting was also addressed, among others, by Gen Secy of Rajshahi city AL Doublew Sarker, MP Adiba Anjum Meeta, Vice-President of dist AL Zakirul Islam Shantu and Organising Secy Alfor Rahman.
