Published : 27 Feb 2022 09:38 PM

Agriculture Minister and Awami League presidium member Dr. Md. Abdur Razzque said, BNP does not want Election Commission, nor does it want elections. They know that there is no ground under their feet. They will be ruined in the next election. Their leader Khaleda Zia has been convicted in a corruption case. Although she was supposed to be in jail, she is out of jail due to his physical illness and the generosity of the government.

But she will not be able to participate in the election. Another BNP leader, Tarique Rahman, manages the party by remote control from abroad. He is also corrupt, according to the law, it is not easy for him to stand for election. Therefore, they do not want elections at all. They want the fall of the government. But this government is the elected government of the people. This government will not fall without the verdict of the people till the next election. The minister said this while exchanging views with journalists at Basail Upazila Parishad premises in Tangail on Sunday.

Dr. Razzak further said, “The Presidential Election Commission has been constituted as per the Election Commission Act. The image of the Chief Election Commissioner and those who have been appointed as Election Commissioners is very bright. In the past, they have performed their duties with great success and efficiency. As far as I know, they have no political identity. Since the formation of this commission, debates in all quarters have subsided and an atmosphere of peace has been created. The expectation of a fair and beautiful election has been created among all and everyone thinks that this new commission will be a good election.”

The minister said there was no law in the country to form an election commission. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government have enacted a law to set up an Election Commission for fair and impartial elections. According to the law, the President formed the Election Commission yesterday. Therefore, it does not matter whether the BNP rejects the commission or not. No matter how threatening the movement is, they will not be able to stop the next election. Leaders and workers of Awami League are ready to face all their movements.

Later, the Agriculture Minister participated in the triennial conference of Basail Upazila Awami League. At the same time, the minister said, the new leadership will come through the conference, the party will be stronger and better organized. This new leadership will play a much better role in the next elections.

Basail Upazila Awami League Acting President Shamsul Alam presided over the conference and General Secretary. Organized by Matiar Rahman, Bangladesh Awami League Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam, Education and Human Resources Secretary Shamsun Nahar Champa, Member of Parliament Ed. Zoaherul Islam, Chhota Monir MP spoke.
