BNACWC general meeting held

The 15th general meeting of Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) was held at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment Tuesday. 

Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of Armed Forces Division and the Chairman of BNACWC Lieutenant General Md Mahfuzur Rahman chaired the meeting, said an ISPR release. 

Members of BNACWC appointed from deferent ministries, organizations and Armed Forces attended the event. BNACWC members and associated staff members reviewed the present activities of BNACWC and discussed about the future road map to implement Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) in Bangladesh. They also worked out a modalities to draft the ‘Rules’ for the implementation of Chemical Weapons (Prohibition) Act -2006 nationwide. 

Necessary action plan for capacity building of Fire Service and Civil Defence and Armed Forces to combat chemical disaster or accident was also discussed during the meeting. Besides, the board emphasized on the capacity building of customs laboratories of all entry ports to identify the imported chemicals specially schedule chemicals. 

The meeting ended with a positive understanding for working together to ensure chemical safety in Bangladesh.
