The Bangladesh Manobadhikar Sangbadik Forum (BMSF) has strongly condemned an attack on a bus carrying members of the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in Madhabdi of Narsingdi, in which several journalists were injured.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, BMSF President Enamul Kabir Rupom and General Secretary Khairuzzaman Kamal demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible and called for their prosecution.

According to the statement, the attack took place on Monday evening when road extortionists, armed with locally made weapons, targeted the bus carrying crime reporters.

The BMSF leaders said the circumstances leading to the attack must be thoroughly investigated to prevent similar incidents in the future.

They also expressed appreciation for the police, noting that law enforcement responded promptly and arrived at the scene soon after the incident.

The organisation warned that attacks on journalists pose a serious threat to press freedom and public safety.
