A blanket distribution programme for the cold-hit people was held on the premises of the SP office in Nilphamari on Tuesday, organised by Police Nari Kalyan Samity.
The programme was presided over by Touhida Akter, wife of Nilphamari SP, while the SP Muhammad Asraf Hossain attended there as the chief guest. Among others, Additional SP ABM Atiqur Rahman, Additional SP Sadar circle Ruhul Amin and six officers in charge of the six upazilas also attended the programme as special guests.
A total of 400 blankets were distributed among the poor people. Now the weather of the area is very rough. People are passing very miserable time. Particularly the poor and distressed people are affected much. To help them, Police Nari Kalyan Samity has taken a humanitarian work.
Touhida Akter said, “It is very cold now a days. We arrange such kind of programme every year. All the people of our society should do for the poor people in their distress. We will try to continue such kind of work in future. We urge all classes of people particularly the rich to standby the poor.”
