Exclusive: Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam movie is packed with Easter eggs from DC Comics and beyond & it took some time to get right.

Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam movie has a ton of Easter eggs that pulls from the DC Comics world and beyond, and it took quite a while to get them all in there. After several years of having his film stuck in development hell, Johnson has entered the DCU as Black Adam, bringing the iconic antihero to life for the first time on the big screen. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam follows the grim origin story of Teth-Adam and how he became one of the planet's most powerful beings.

While Black Adam set the foundation for Teth-Adam's era in the DCU, the film also pulled in other big comic book elements throughout the film. As Black Adam took on the villainous Intergang organization, the DCU also brought Sabbac to life as another baddie for Johnson's character to fight. While the DCU movie followed Johnson's antihero, the Black Adam film also introduced the Justice Society of America, the Golden Age team that traditionally predates the Justice League.

Similar to most comic book and superhero movies, Black Adam didn't hold back when it came to spreading out Easter eggs from the DC Comics world. Screen Rant recently spoke with Black Adam editor Mike Sale, ACE, who opened up about helping work on the long-waited DCU installment. One of Sale's favorite aspects of Black Adam was the amount of DC Easter eggs and the joy of getting to pull from the comics. While Sale wouldn't spoil every specific nod in the film, it was a fun experience getting to plant seeds from DC Comics, as he stated the following:

Mike Sale, ACE: I've got to tell you, there's a bunch of [Easter eggs], really. Jaume Collet-Serra is super smart, and he put bunches of things in there. I'm not going to say what they are, but the more you watch this movie... And they're not only just from video games or the DC world. Even going back into comic books. Jaume studied for six months for this movie. He read every comic book, and he has some crazy, amazing memory. He remembers everything.

One of my favorite parts of working on this movie is he would come into my room, and I would go, "Why is he wearing a cloak when he wakes up out on the Rock of Eternity? Jaume would go tell me a 45-minute story about what really happened after he battled the king, and why he's now wearing a cloak.
