BKB disburses Tk 929cr loan in Khulna division

Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) has disbursed Tk 929.34 crore as loan in the 2018-2019 fiscal year in ten districts of Khulna division to help boost rural economy and generate employment through enhancing agricultural and non-agricultural production in the region. 

Side by side with disbursement of loans, the bank has also realized Tk 973.90 crore including classified and outstanding loans during the same period, officials said.

The officials said that Krishi Bank has been functioning through two administrative divisions since 2009-2010 fiscal years to provide better service to the farmers.

Jashore, Khulna, Satkhira, Narail  and Bagerhat districts are functioning under Khulna Regional office while Kushtia, Jhenaidah, Magura, Chuadanga and Meherpur districts are functioning under Kushtia Regional office under Khulna division.

Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Krishi Bank in Khulna Region Shikder Towhidul Islam said that in Khulna administrative division the bank has set a target of disbursing Taka 1,463.20 crore as loan among 69,917 farmers and recovering Taka 973.90 crore through its 88 branches in the division.

Of the loan, Taka 752.88 crore has been disbursed for agro loans among 63,372 farmers, Taka 34.69 crore has been disbursed for agro-based industries among 276 people, Taka 139.07 crore disbursed for Small and Medium Entrepreneurs'(SME) among 2,252 Entrepreneurs and Taka 2.70 crore disbursed for Export-Import trade among 17 people.

“We are very much confident of attaining the disbursement and recovery targets through our quality and pro-people banking services,” he said.

Main objectives of the loans are to create an intensive investment scope for the agro-based SMEs in the light of the government industrial policy and for supplementing the government’s efforts to attain food security and economic emancipation. Various business fields especially software, agro-processing and IT business, agriculture, plantation, fisheries, poultry, tissue culture and leather goods have been selected for investment.
