We welcome the pilgrims from different countries of the world, including Bangladesh, who came to join the Ijtema. The first phase of Biswa Ijtema began on the bank of the Turag River at Tongi, on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka, on Friday.

We believe Islam is a religion of peace and humanity. The participation of Muslims from different countries of the world in the Biswa Ijtema is a great initiative to follow the noble ideals and creed of Islam as well as its propagation and expansion.

We hope, Ijtema will pave the way to know, understand and practise the noble ideals of Islam. We believe that the Ijtema will play a significant role in strengthening the unity, solidarity and brotherhood of the Muslim-Ummah.

Every year since 1967, one of the largest congregation of the Muslims on the banks of the Turag in Dhaka, has been making a significant contribution in propagating and spreading the message of Islam. Ijtema is a wonderful meeting place of mutual unity, harmony and friendship among Muslims from different parts of the world and is an unparalleled example of Islamic society, discipline, brotherhood and magnanimity.

We hope, Ijtema will pave the

 way to know, understand and

practise the noble ideals of Islam.

We hope, the message of the cherished non-communal spirit, genuine simplicity and hospitality and tolerance of Bangladesh will reach the world through the foreign guests flocking to Ijtema. Preaching in The Tabligh Jamaat-organised event, the second-largest Muslim congregation globally, is being simultaneously translated into Bengali by the country’s Islamic scholars.

Amidst various challenges, including cold and rain, hundreds of thousands of Muslim devotees have gathered from around the world at Ijtema grounds. The first phase of this year’s Ijtema will conclude with the final supplication tomorrow (Sunday). The second phase of the Ijtema will commence on February 9.

After the Maghrib prayer on Thursday, hundreds of thousands of Muslim devotees endured extreme weather conditions on the Ijtema ground. Those who have taken positions in and around the main Ijtema ground, on the banks of the Turag and adjacent to the roads are facing even more difficulty.

People from various countries, including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Europe, America, and Africa, have gathered for the Ijtema. Taking note of large scale gathering of devotees the authorities must maintain safety and law and order in and around the Ijtema ground.
