July 1, 2021 marks the 100th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China. It needs no emphasising that China has grown as one of the most powerful countries in the world under Communist Party of China (CPC), which has ruled the nation single-handedly for more than 70 years. The centennial gives Chinese people an opportunity to measure the country’s achievements and a moment for Xi and the party to move toward their goals for 2049, which would mark the 100th year of communist rule.
Thirteen young Chinese men including Mao Zedonga and two Comintern representatives met secretly in Shanghai’s French Concession one hundred years ago. However, they soon fled to nearby Jiaxing (where they had to conclude discussions on a pleasure boat) fearing discovery by police. This is how CPC took birth. A century on, it has grown into a behemoth that controls a fifth of the world’s population and its second-largest economy.

Xi Jinping has rightly said that over the past 100 years, the party has "written a splendid chapter in the history of the Chinese nation's development and that of humanity's progress". Following Mao's death in 1976, the new leader, Deng Xiaoping, commenced a series of reforms that radically changed China.
He encouraged international trade and allowed foreign capital investment which helped China made a phenomenal entry into world markets. China's exports and economy grew dramatically following the opening of the country under Deng Xiaoping. Now China is one of the largest exporter of goods in the world. The country’s total exports amounted to $2.641 trillion in 2019. In 2013, China became the largest trading nation in the world.
CPC leaders has always been very keen to modernize the country's economy and restore the party's status as a great power. As a result, China has accomplished capitalist modernization that took one hundred years in other states. CPC can now point to many achievements. Xi Jinping, and the party enjoys strong support among the Chinese public. Since coming to power as general secretary of the party in late 2012 and president in March 2013, Xi has cracked down on corruption. His policies made China more independent and helped the country obtain large foreign exchange earnings. We hope CPC will work to make the world a better place for all.
