It’s been a while since, Dhaka to New York flights were under operation with Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Biman Bangladesh New York flight remained suspended since 2006. But it will be able to resume direct NY flights if the status of the Biman is raised to category-1.

Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are virtually continuing pre-audit technical assessment that had started in July this year. Unless CAAB obtains a positive report from FAA, it will not be possible to resume the operation of flight to the United States of America (USA).

Following this, the FAA authorities will come for a final audit based on which the country's aviation sector is likely to get a safety rating to category-1 from the current category-2.

Experts opine that it's a total virtual 640 hours pre audit, of which we have had completed 140 hours. This meeting will access capacities in 32 categories on aviation legislations, flight operations, airworthiness and personnel licensing.

Now the government has more responsibility to make this a reality as Biman opts to make them profitable. After Sheikh Hasina came to power, consistent measures were taken to uphold Biman’s prestige. The fleet of Biman has extended significantly with the accumulation of many new and latest world class aircraft. For e.g., Dreamliner Boeing 787. This aircraft will really help Biman to establish itself as a reputed airlines with its latest technology and facilities.

Another good news is recently Biman was allowed land at John F Kennedy International Airport, New York with our prime minister on board. So, we hope that the operations of Biman flights will start in the near future on this route, and Bangladeshis living in the US will be very glad about it as well.
