Biman carried record 31 lakh passengers last fiscal

Biman continues to make profits

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has carried a record number of passengers during the last financial year. During this tenure, the international market share of Biman stood at 22 percent. 

According to the national flag carrier, Biman carried a record 31 lakh passengers in the fiscal year 2022-23. In the preceding fiscal year 2021-22, the number of passengers carried by Biman was 22 lakh. 

In addition, Biman has carried passengers on 21 international routes in the last financial year. By conducting the Hajj activities smoothly, besides operating flights on all routes, it has transported 61,151 pre-Hajj and 59,283 pilgrims in post-Hajj through its aircraft without lease.

The information was given at the 16th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at the Biman's head office in the capital on Thursday. Chairman of Biman Board of Directors Mustafa Kamal Uddin presided over the meeting and Biman Board members and shareholders were present. General Manager of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Tahera Khandkar, said that in addition to conducting flights on all routes, Biman has transported 61,151 pre-Hajj pilgrims and 59,283 post-Hajj pilgrims through its non-leased aircraft.

In addition, Biman has provided ground handling services on 30,305 international flights in the last financial year and has obtained the IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) certificate of appreciation for the ground handling sector.  Furthermore, Biman is actively embracing digital transformation to enhance the passenger experience, with a focus on online ticketing, web check-in, mobile apps, loyalty clubs, and other online services. These initiatives aim to position Biman as a smart airline, leveraging technology to provide modern and convenient travel solutions for its customers.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has continued to make profits as a government commercial enterprise despite the rising value of the dollar.
