The residents of Jamalpur demanded that the Bijoy Express train from Mymensingh to Chattogram should be started from Jamalpur. It was the government's promise to leave this train from Jamalpur. But the train is leaving from Mymensingh. The people of five districts including Jamalpur are being deprived of train facilities on the Chattogram route.
Jamalpur Citizens Committee and JamilitSamajikAndolanJamalpur District Branch organised a rally and human chain to implement the demand on Wednesday.
People of various classes and professions of the district took part in the rally and human chain held at the Jamalpur railway station platform.
Journalist and Human Rights Activist Jahangir Selim presided over the human bond. The speakers said that the Bijoy Express train will start service from Mymensingh for Chattogram that was launched a few years back. Since then, the common people of Jamalpur have been demanding the release of this train from Jamalpur. Thousands of people of five districts will benefit if this train starts from Jamalpur. Recently, the railway authorities promised to release the Bijoy Express train from Jamalpur.
