Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) organized a workshop on Bangladesh Investment Policy abroad on a virtual platform. Md Sirajul Islam, Executive Chairman of BIDA spoke at the workshop of working on the final draft of Bangladeshi investment policy abroad and assured that the draft will be prepared soon.
Speaking as the chief guest at the virtual workshop, Mr Salman Fazlur Rahman MP, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Private Industry and Investment said, “Bangladesh is moving forward under the leadership of the Prime Minister. Our economic growth has steadily increased over the past decade, so now we are thinking of investing abroad, which was unimaginable even ten years ago. So it is time to formulate investment policies abroad, but in this case, our sectors will be identified first. At the same time, we should formulate policies in such a way that there are no money laundering leakage issues, ”he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Md. Sirajul Islam, Executive Chairman, BIDA, said that the policy was formulated at the first meeting of the BIDA Governing Board under the direction of the Prime Minister and directed to finalize the draft at the 2nd Governing Board meeting.
To this end, we are working, already with the help of Bangladesh Bank, we have prepared a draft of 13 paragraphs and later sent it to various stockholders for feedback, many of which will include various additions and deletions, including sector identification. He also said that the final draft of the Bangladesh Investment Policy will be prepared soon with the views of various stakeholders keeping in mind the dream journey of a developed Bangladesh.
During this time, Mr. Sheikh Siraj, Director of Channel I, highlighted the immense potential for investment in agriculture and agricultural production in the outside world, especially in Africa and Europe, including the Middle East. He said many Bangladeshi businessmen, workers and entrepreneurs are involved in agriculture and agricultural products in different countries of the Middle East and Africa through which investment can be easily made in these countries.
During the workshop, former Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Golam Mosi highlighted the facilities for medium and small investment in the Middle East.
Mr. Mahasina Yasmin, Executive Member of BIDA gave the welcome address at the beginning of the function conducted by Mr. Nusrat Jahan, Deputy Director, BIDA. During this time, Mr. Shah Mohammad Mahabub, Director General of BIDA, presented the 13-paragraph "Draft of Bangladesh Investment Policy to the Overseas". In the webinar, about 100 (100) delegates from various government and non-government organizations, chambers of commerce, reviewed Bangladesh's investment policy abroad in 8 groups and gave their views. Kazi Abu Taher, Director, BIDA, summarized the review of Bangladesh's investment policy abroad.
