BGB Director General Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan said that besides protecting the border, BGB members will stand by the people in any disaster of the country.
He said this to the reporters after visiting the devastated Saint Martin island in Cox's Bazar on Tuesday morning and distributing relief to the victims.
Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan said that since the declaration of emergency number 10 in Cox's Bazar district and adjacent coastal areas, the members of BGB have been conducting miking and campaigning and delivering advance messages from house to house.
Besides, they (members of BGB) have played a direct role in evacuating the people of disaster-affected areas to shelters.

BGB Director General Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan arrived at Saint Martin Island at 10 am on Tuesday morning. He then visited BGB's St Martin BOP. He exchanged views with BGB members there.
BGB members expressed their gratitude for their duty before and after the cyclone.
Later, the Director General of BGB visited the affected area of St. Martin. After the visit, he distributed relief to 800 affected people of the island. After distribution of relief, he also spoke to media workers.
Senior officers of BGB headquarters, Cox's Bazar region commander, various sector commanders and battalion commanders were present at the time.
