Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a smuggler along with 30 pieces of gold bars from Goga bordering area in Benapole on Saturday.
The arrestee was identified as Ashikur Rahman (35) son of Abdur Razzak in Balunda of Benapole Port Police station.
According to the BGB, information came from secret sources that a gold smuggler was smuggling a large quantity of gold smuggled to India a BGB patrol team raided the area and arrested Ashikur Rahman with 30 pics of Gold bar weighing 3.5 kgs. The market value of seized gold is Tk 2 crore 53 lakhs.
21 BGB battalion commanding officer Lt. Col Tanveer Ahmed PSC said, BGB members arrested a gold smuggler with 30 pics of gold bars weighing 3.5 kg of gold during smuggling to India. After interrogation, the arrested person was handed over to Sharsha police station.
