Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) detained two persons including Rohingyas with 30,000 pieces of Yaba from South Trawlerghat area of Teknaf Shahpari Island in Cox's Bazar. At that time, 30 kg of illegal current nets and trawlers used for drug trafficking were seized from them.
2 BGB commander Lt. Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar confirmed the matter on Monday (March 26) at 2 am.
Lt Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar said BGB surveillance was carried out in the South Trawlerghat area of Shahpari Island on Monday on the basis of secret information. A trawler carrying drugs from Myanmar entered Bangladesh at around 1 am and the trawler was seized.
At that time, two persons in the trawler were arrested. They were searched and 30,000 Yaba and 30 kg of illegal current nets were recovered.
He said further legal action was being taken against the detainees.
