Border Guard Bangladesh on Sunday raided Jibannagar upazila in Chuadanga and arrested two smugglers along with 7 kg of silver jewelry.
The detainees are- Md Anando of Jibannagar upazila and Abbas Ali of Maheshpur upazila. A press release signed by BGB's Maheshpur-57 Battalion Assistant Director Mohammad Nazrul Islam Khan confirmed the matter to media personnel on Sunday night.
According to the press release, the members of Jibannagar BOP searched a Jashore bound bus at the BGB check post on Sunday. At that time, two passengers of the bus saw the BGB members and tried to flee, but the BGB detained them. Arrested Ananda and Abbas Ali were later searched and 6.7 kg of silver jewelry wrapped around their ankles was seized. The arrested have been handed over to Jibannagar police station along with silver jewelry.
