The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Moheshpur border area in Jhenidah has detained nine Bangladeshi nationals including two women and a child while they were returning from neighboring India illegally.
These nine persons were detained by Shyamkur Border Observation Post (BOP) personnel from the main road at Ekashipara brick kilns, about three kilometers inside the zero lines in Moheshpur frontier on Thursday afternoon.
BGB 58 battalion Assistant Director Nazrul Islam Khan in a press release stated that the border guards detained Suman Hawlader, 24, son of Ranjit Hawlader of village Kandapara of Harirampur upazila in Makiganj, Shubhankar Dewan, 28, son Raddheswas Dewan, his son Dev Dewan, 08, of village Bahirchar of Hizla in Barishal, Swaradini Ghatak, 70, wife of Barokhoka Ghatak of village Soldia in Chitalamari upazila in Bagerhat, Bulu Rani Das, 35, wife of Anil Das of village Salikha of Magura, Sadhana Rani Malo, 35, wife of Akhil Malo of Chandabazer in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur, Panna Begum, 40, wife of Selim Sarder of village Mauni in Naragati of Narail, Fatema Sheikh, 35, wife of Biplab Seikh and Fatema Khanam, 19, daughter of Kaiser Sheikh, both of the village Kuet in Daulatpur upazila in Khulna.
BGB sources said the Bangladeshi nationals were returning from neighboring India without any valid papers. They were handed over to Moheshpur police station after filing case under Bangladesh Passport Act with the said police station.
