Beneficiaries receive unpaid allowances following Mashrafe’s initiative

The allowances of the old, widow and the disabled people under social security porgramme are being refunded at Lohagara upazila in Narail district following intervention of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, MP from Narail-2 constituency.  

Sources if Lohagara branch of Bangladesh Krishi Bank said that the amount of money in the fiscal year 2018-2019 is Taka 2 lakh,77 thousand 500 as elderly allowance, Taka 2 lakh 10 thousand as widow allowance, Taka one lakh 11 thousand 300 as disability allowance, in the fiscal year 2017-2018 is Taka 37 thousand 600 lakh as elderly allowance,Taka 37 thousand 614 as widow allowance and Taka 23 thousand 300 as disability allowance, a total of taka 6 lakh 74 thousand 14 is unspent.

After knowing about the matter, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza requested for payment of unpaid allowances through DO letter for humanitarian reason. In the DO letter, he requested to pay the refundable allowance from a humanitarian point of view by addressing the legal complication caused by the allowance money of the poor people. In view of this, the total unpaid amount of Tk 6 lakh 74 thousand is being distributed as elderly, widow and disabled allowances by the  Krishi Bank of Lohagara branch. 

Manager of the branch Mamun Ur Rashid said, MP Mashrafe Bin Mortaza had sent a DO letter to pay back the unused money. In respect of the MP, arrangements have been made to distribute refundable money in consultation with the higher authorities. Accordingly, money is being distributed to the beneficiaries periodically. The beneficiaries are getting the money back with the effort of MP Mashrafe. 

Lohagara Upazila Social Services Officer Shamim Reza said that under the social security programme, the allowances of the elderly, widow and the disabled are returning Tk. 6,74,014 following the intervention of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
