Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a smuggler along with 16 gold bars from Goga border in Benapole on Wednesday Morning.
The arrestee was identified as Md Johnny Hossain (40) son of Mizanur Rahman of Chhota Achhra village in Benapole Police Station.
According to the BGB, information came from secret sources that a gold smuggler was smuggling a large quantity of gold smuggled to India A BGB patrol team raided the area and arrested Jony Hossain along with 16 gold bars.
The market value of seized gold is Tk 1 crore 53 lakh.
21 BGB battalion commanding officer Lt Col Tanveer Ahmed PSC said, BGB members arrested a gold smuggler with 16 gold bars weighing 1 kg 846 grams of gold during smuggling to India. After interrogation, the arrested person was handed over to Sharsha police station.
