The International Women's Violence Prevention Day and the Begum Rokeya Day was observed at Chitalmari of Bagerhat on Wendensday.
On the occasion, facemasks were distributed by women to prevent Covid-19, while reception programme and discussion were also arranged marking the day.
Upazila Nirhbahi Officer (UNO) of Chitamari Mohammad Maruful Alam presided over the function while Upazila Woman Vice Chairman Sabera Kamal Swapna, Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Md. Hafizur Rahman, Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Sohrab Hossain and others spoke as guests.
The awards among successful women were also handed over at the event. Kanika Mandal of Durgapur village was awarded for her success in education and employment, while Nazma Akhter of Kurmunigram, successful mother Jayant Gharami of Ashoknagar village, Sikha Rani Bairagi of Barabak village, and Purabi Rani Roy of Khaserhat in Charbaniyari were awarded at the function.
The Department of Women's Affairs announced to resume the Teenage Club, which was closed during the Corona period, in compliance with the hygiene rules.
