Students and the principal of an ashram have rescued a bear cub from a dog attack in Yangcha area of Lama upazila of Bandarban Hill District. The baby bear was rescued from a deep forest near Jinameju Ashram in Lama Upazila around 10pm on Tuesday.

The students of the ashram said that as they were bathing next to the ashram at night, they heard some dogs were barking loudly and then they went inside forest to find out the reason. They then saw a bear cub was standing above a tree and the dogs were underneath that tree. Then, the bear cub was later rescued and brought to the ashram.

Nandamala Ther, principal of the Jinameju Ashram, said the students rescued the bear cub from the forest next to the ashram at night. Later the forest department was informed. “The baby bear is given variety of foods, including milk. The baby is healthy, and the baby plays with all of us,” principle added.
