Mohammad Anwar Hossain, a journalist at Bangladesh Post, has successfully completed the Transparency School 2025 Fellowship, an internationally acclaimed anti-corruption and accountability training program organized by Transparency International Lithuania.
Hossain was awarded a full tuition waiver for the highly competitive fellowship. The Transparency School is recognized as one of Europe’s premier programs for future leaders in the fields of transparency, integrity, and governance. Each year, it attracts journalists, civil society advocates, public officials, and scholars from over 100 countries.
Hossain’s selection and successful completion of this fellowship marks another milestone in his growing international recognition as a journalist dedicated to ethics, development, and democratic values.
This is not Hossain’s first international accolade. In 2024, he received a fellowship from the Bangladesh Tourism Board for his impactful reporting on the country’s local tourism potential. His articles explored innovative ways to attract foreign vloggers, YouTubers, and promote culinary tourism to position Bangladesh as a halal-friendly travel destination.
With a focus on food security, climate resilience, and digital journalism, Hossain has also earned several international certifications, including one on ‘Food Security and Financing for Rural Development’ from the Thomson Reuters Foundation and IFAD in February 2023, and another on ‘Reporting on Food Security and Rural Development in South Asia’ in October 2022. In 2025, he also completed a certificate course on ‘Digital Investigation Tech,’ jointly organized by AFP and the Google News Initiative.
In recognition of his broader societal contributions, Hossain received the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award from the Bharat Bangladesh Cultural Society in 2024, and the Human Rights Peace Award from Agragami Media Vision the same year.
Reflecting on his recent achievement, Hossain said, “This fellowship deepened my understanding of institutional integrity and the media’s role in building accountable societies. It was a privilege to learn from global experts and connect with change makers from around the world.”
His journalistic journey has taken him across major international platforms including the World Travel Market (WTM) 2024 in London, the 78th United Nations General Assembly in 2023, the NAB Show in New York, and the IMF Annual Meetings in Washington, D.C.
With his continuous dedication to development reporting, climate issues, and governance, Mohammad Anwar Hossain continues to set a high standard for aspiring journalists in Bangladesh and beyond.
