The Bangladesh Navy has prepared 21 ships as well as helicopters and Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) for rescue and relief operations after Cyclone 'Mocha'.
According to a press release of the Navy on Saturday afternoon, Navy ships Samudra Jai and Dhaleswari will operate in Cox's Bazar, St. Martin and Teknaf areas. Shapla will work in Kutubdia of Cox's Bazar and outer anchorage area of the port.
Vessels Hatiya and LCT 103 will conduct operations in areas adjacent to Swandwip and Hatiya. LCVP 11 will be deployed in Patuakhali area and LCT 105 in Pirojpur and Barguna areas.
Apart from this, the Navy ships Shaybal, Bangabandhu, Potay, Swadhinata, Pratasha, Nirmul have been kept ready for emergency search and rescue in Khulna Mongla. Aparajeya, Atandra, Surbhi, Adamya and Padma are kept ready of Narayanganj.
These ships carry special medical teams, life-saving drugs, saline and other supplies for emergency medical assistance in post-cyclone affected areas.
Additional Navy ships will be deployed in the second phase after monitoring the intensity of the storm and the incidence of injuries.
According to the notice, Navy helicopters and MPAs will search the affected areas and gather information and take action based on this. Besides, Navy members are warning the residents of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and St. Martin's coastal areas to go to shelters.
