BCL protests terrorism, militancy at IU

The Islamic University (IU) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) brought out a procession on the campus in Kushtia on Thursday marking the 18th anniversary of the series of bomb blasts across the country during the BNP-Jamaat government.

The procession paraded the main roads on the campus. The procession was brought out to raise voice against terrorism and militancy. 

IU unit president of Bangladesh Chhatra League Faisal Siddiqui Arafat and general secretary Nasim Ahmed Joy led the procession. 

BCL leaders Tonmoy Shaha Tony, Al-Mamun, Boni Amin, Mamunur-Rashid, Rokibul Islam, Naeemur Rahman Joy, Hossain Mojumder Shohagh Sheikh joined the procession, among others.

After the procession, a brief rally was held on the campus.  Faisal Siddiqui Arafat and Nasim Ahmed Joy spoke at the rally. 

On August 17 in 2005, around 500 bombs went off at 434 locations in 63 districts of the country that left two people dead and over 50 others injured. The banned group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) was behind the mayhem.
